Escape to Dalat, Vietnam
After spending a few days in the hot and humid Ho Chi Minh City, we decided to head up to somewhere cooler.
Dalat is the capital of Lam Dong Province in the southern part of the Central Highlands in Vietnam. From what we read, this city is called the city of thousand of pines and has an almost year-round spring weather. With this in mind, we took an overnight 7-hour bus from HCMC to Dalat. The bus left at 11pm and so we arrived early in the morning.
The first thing I noticed I got when we got off the bus was being cold. I didnt bring any jacket but thankfully I had a scarf. The next was the fresh smell of pines, from the bus station I could see the road lined up with pine trees. It was a pretty and wonderful sight.
ImageWe then took a motorbike taxi to our hotel. From the bus station, we passed by so many French styled houses with a view of mountains in the background. The The winding road led to a big lake in the middle of the city. It was a picturesque little town.
After we settled in our hotel, we rented a motorbike and explored the city. We went to the Thien Vien Truc Lam Monastery and took the cable car to see the view of Dalat. The fee was 70,000 VD for a return ride. The view was indeed pretty. We spent a few hours driving around the city and returned to our hotel to rest.
