Let's go Hoi An a World Heritage site at Vietnam

Hoi An is a small town in central Vietnam classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.

The town is a mixture of Chinese, Japanese and French architecture due to its history as an important trade port in the early 19th century. Its strategic location was perfect for merchants and traders crossing between the East and the West. As a result, different parts of the city became Chinese, and other parts Japanese over the centuries. Years later, the French came and started building more colonial-looking houses in Hoi An.

Luckily, Hoi An remained untouched during the Second World War (unlike Danang located 30km away), so you can still admire the untouched beauty of this town in its originality. Many of the houses have also been restored, making Hoi An all the more scenic. Lots of lanterns and traditional decorations can be seen around town, which means it’s extremely photogenic.

For many, Hoi An resembles a movie set, with its amazingly old yellow, green and blue walls that remind me of Greece or Northern Africa, while the fishing boats along the river bob around reflecting the romantic sunset.
